Many people are now beginning to turn their attention to the camp Sunnyvale-based AMD. Wow, exactly what is going on there? Hm, maybe it relates to berhembusnya rumors about the existence of the Radeon HD 6790 GPU is now being prepared to compete with AMD's GTX 550 Ti's presence as a new mainstream solution made by Nvidia.
Radeon HD 6790 GPU itself is supposed to be the new GTX 550 Ti comes after the release, but who would have thought nothing is certain regard it. And so far there are only a few German sites (like Heise.de and Hardware Luxx) are discussing about this news.
Currently AMD HD 6850 graphics card can be purchased in the market at the price of $ 169.99, or about 1.7 million rupiah. But for those users who want a more budget-friendly solution, of course, would be to switch to AMD 5000 series graphics cards are older or even switch to a line of products made by Nvidia graphics card.
Although the price is made by Nvidia GTX 550 Ti has not been officially published, but many people who estimate the price range is in between the price of the GTX 460 768MB which cost $ 145.99 (about 1.5 million dollars) and the price GTS 450 that cost $ 119.99 (about 1.2 million dollars).
Meanwhile, the GeForce GTX 550 Ti itself will soon be officially released by Nvidia on March 15 2011 that will come. Latest graphics cards made by Nvidia, the GF116-400 comes with a pack 192 cores CUDA cores, 32 texture units, 24 ROP units and memory bus with a capacity of 192 bits.
GPU clock is set to 900MHz, while the 1GB of GDDR5 memory speed 4100 MHz capable of providing a bandwidth of 70% compared to the GTS 450. On the other hand, the GTX 550 Ti has a TDP of only 116W voltage (10W lower than the GTS 450). This graphics card is equipped with two-way SLI support, two dual-link DVI-I ports and a mini HDMI port.
But unfortunately, so far has not revealed the details related to the specifications made by the presence of AMD Radeon HD 6790 is being prepared. Well, we'll wait!

Plants VS Zombies 2 IS COMING . . . . sometime between 2011 and 2020. According to the developers who were interviewed the other day.
Update: PopCap has announced the Plants Vs Zombies 2 release date is spring 2013!
To quote John Vechey of Popcap Games and the folks who brought you Plants vs Zombies,Peggle, Bejeweled and Zuma:
“I promise your readers there will be a Plants Vs. Zombies 2 in the next one to 10 years,” Popcap co-founder John Vechey told Kotaku‘s Stephen Totilo.
Sure it’s quite a wide prediction and a long-lasting one, but hey, is it really any stretch to think that Popcap will be making Plants vs Zombies 2 sooner rather than later? No. It is not.
The latest version of the game also recently released for the iPad. So if you haven’t played PvZ check it out for PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad and soon Xbox Live Arcade.
To keep you entertained in the meantime, here’s official Plants vs Zombies Music Video.
Intel vs AMD Processor Comparison 2013

The central processing unit, more commonly known as the CPU or simply, processor, is a pivotal part of any computing system. Indeed, it would not be very far from truth to say that a computer is what its processor is. The processor is the unit which reads and executes every program instruction. Therefore, consideration towards the processor when purchasing a new personal computer or laptop occupies the top rank among all other computer buying considerations. A prospective buyer's choice of processor usually depends upon his/her computing requirements - say, you may be looking for more gaming experience than storage, or you may be more into speed than heavy graphics and multimedia output - and computer usage (low, moderate, heavy), besides individual budget. Despite there being a large number of brands offering many good processors, the AMD vs Intel battle is, by far, considered the battle royale which assumes leviathan proportions in terms of comparison of processing features, price differences and market share! So, which is better - AMD or Intel? Let's take a look at Intel vs AMD processor comparison 2013 and decide for ourselves!
AMD vs Intel Processor Comparison 2013
Although Intel dominates the market with its high-end, coming-of-age processor technologies like the well-received Core i series and the fresh and upcoming Ivy Bridge range, AMD is not far behind and occupies considerable mindshare due to high performance processors at economical price ranges. Let's take a brand-by-brand look at AMD and Intel processors to get to know what products each offers and how each has something to say about its prominent presence in the CPU market before jumping to a parallel Intel vs AMD processor comparison 2013.
AMD Processors
Those of you who have experienced the functionalities of AMD's FX series of processors (FX-8150, FX-8120, FX-6100 and FX-4100) enabled with the oven-fresh Bulldozer microarchitecture would understand how the first generation Bulldozer enabled processors absolutely dazzle at certain functions while fall below expectations at certain other areas of computing requirements. The Bulldozer is a totally new architecture design and not an upgradation or modified version of any existing ones. Hence, the expectations from the FX range as well as the hype created around it before its launch were sky-high. However, once the FX series was launched, it received mixed responses from commercial as well as retail users. FX-8150 has been considered as a major failure as far as its performance in moderately threaded processes are concerned. In fact, many users are of the opinion that its performance in less intensively threaded benchmarks reaches lower standards than AMD's Phenom II X6 when the latter is clocked at a slower speed. In highly threaded situations, FX-8150's performance is almost at the same levels as that of Phenom II X6. In fact, being priced higher than Intel's Core i5 2500K with a fluctuating performance, given different benchmarks, as compared to the latter, AMD's FX-8150 comes across as something of a disappointment. The FX series of processors are also known to consume a lot of power when overclocked.
AMD has announced the launch of the second generation Bulldozer processors by the end of Q1 of 2013, which would mean that you should be able to get your hands on them by March this year. The second generation Bulldozer core architecture, codenamed Piledriver, is expected to take care of the first generation series' lacunae in terms of consistency and enhanced performance under all kinds of threading benchmarks. The second generation FX series processors are being expected to pack at least 25% higher performance capabilities, even in situations of heavy-duty multimedia overloads. The latest Opteron series is also all set to enhance server performance and efficiency in an economic way as far as prices and power consumption are concerned. If the second generation Bulldozer architecture does manage to live up to its claims, it is certainly possible for Intel's Sandy Bridge to face some stiff competition, both in terms of price and energy efficiency. While competitive pricing has always been AMD's strength, the upcoming Piledriver processor range also promises low power consumption, the latter being one of AMD processors' biggest weaknesses till date. Therefore, if AMD can get the energy usage figures down to Intel processors' levels, Intel may have something to worry about.
Intel Processors
Not to be outdone by AMD, Intel is a tough contender when it comes to the Intel vs AMD battle. With its new Ivy Bridge microarchitecture enabled range of processors (Core i5 and Core i7, though not to be confused with the Intel processors of the same name that was built on Nehalem and other earlier microarchitecture types) slated for release by Q2 this year, we have some great Intel processors to look forward to. An immediate successor to Sandy Bridge, the Ivy Bridge microarchitecture claims to bring the energy consumption figures lower than all its predecessors such as Sandy Bridge, Nehalem, Clarkdale, Wolfdale, etc. Add superior integrated graphics output and smaller, faster transistors to that and you have a product that is every heavy-duty computer user's dream! To put it simply, those of you who have used Sandy Bridge processors before would be able to realize the improvement Ivy Bridge offers - the latter will give the same performance as the former with lesser power consumed and higher, faster performance at the same power consumption as Sandy Bridge. You will also experience better multimedia quality as the graphics core of Ivy Bridge processors have been significantly enhanced as compared to processors belonging to older Intel microarchitecture types. Prices would be slightly on the higher side as compared to AMD, but given the consistency, superior performance specs and its downward-traveling energy consumption curve, Intel may not have that much to worry about after all!
Get as much technical information as you can on AMD versus Intel chips before you settle for any one. Neither can be declared the clear winner as each has some features which are better than those of the other. However, judging by speculations, Intel's Ivy Bridge seems to have an edge over AMD's Piledriver. That means, 2013 could very well belong to Intel! However, the facts can be laid down for certain only when both processor ranges are launched in the retail market. Till then, prioritize your computing requirements and take your call - make sure your decision is based on technical facts rather than price and marketing campaigns.

To maintain the existence of the world of processors, the latest processor now has a presence. If you already started to be tempted by the latest technology Intel Core i7, now it seems you have to re tempted by the presence of the new processor Intel Core i9 output.
It is still unfinished business in the market but is still undergoing tests for the early benchmark tests can prove how sophisticated the new product. Promised by these new processors in terms of performance will be much better and be able to optimize what is not optimal in the Core i7.
When compared with the previous generation, the Core i7 processor itself have increased the speed reaches 50 percent. Of course, the 6-core 2.8GHz which is not so rapid useful when applied to tasks that are carried out are still not optimal, but with most modern software development that aims to be more advanced and works faster.
For starters, the Core i9 itself gets an increase compared to the Core i7 which is more consuming higher power consumption is 130W while the Core i7 uses only 95W of power.

In a press release, Lisa Su, Vice President and General Manager of AMD Global Business Units, said, "With our new range of best APU in 2013, AMD is preparing to win in this segment of the rapidly growing consumer market."
At the International Consumer Electronics Show, AMD demonstrated a silicon chip has been fully operational in the form of product APU SOC (System On Chip), which is now the first in the world, which was given the code name Temash and Kabini. Demonstrations include running various applications and the latest game based on ultrathin notebook "Kabini" and a hybrid notebook and tablet performance-based "Temash".
Indeed Kabini targeted for use in ultrathin notebooks, with the advantages of having exceptional battery life and offers an amazing level of performance in a choice of either dual-core or quad-core. Kabini is called will deliver performance improvement of over 50 percent compared to the previous generation of AMD APU, the Brazos 2.0.

Makara UI description
The earliest form of the logo of Universitas Indonesia was created in 1952 by Sumaxtono (born as Sumartono), a student from the 1951 Art Department class, Faculty of Engineering, at the time known as the Fakulteit Teknik Universiteit Indonesia, in Bandung.
The logo is the kala-makara, a symbol of the two sources of energy in nature. Kala is the energy from above (the power of the sun), while makara represents the energy from below (the power of the Earth). The two powers are combined and stylized into a symbol that represents the function of Universitas Indonesia as a source of knowledge.
The logo of Universitas Indonesia carries the following interpretation:
The tree, which includes the buds and the branches, represents science and its branches, implying as well that the buds will soon flourish and turn into new branches of science. The buds will continue to blossom as long as the main tree is alive. By this, Sumaxtono intended to state that branches of sciences will continuously grow.
Water pouring down from the makara signifies the works of science.
The logo design and the meaning it carried were presented to Srihadi (a student from the 1952 class from the same department) in 1952. Prof. KRHT H. Srihadi Soedarsono Adhikoesoemo, M.A. who created the logo of Bandung Institute of Technology, was not sure who authenticated this logo or when. He was sure, however, that it was printed on the cover of the book Universiteit Indonesia, Fakulteit Teknik, Bandung: Rentjana Untuk Tahun Peladjaran 1952-1953 (Universitas Indonesia, Faculty of Engineering, Bandung: Course Plans for Academic Years 1952-1953), published by AID, Bandung, 120 pages, using the original design by Sumaxtono (without the pentagonal border).
[edit]History
STOVIA medical school complex during the 1920s, the complex consists of buildings now known as the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Indonesia (top) and Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (center).
The roots of UI date back to 1851. At that time, the colonial government of the Dutch East Indies established a school to train medical assistants. Training lasted for two years, and the graduates were certified to provide basic medical treatments. The degree conferred was Javanese Doctor, as the graduates were certified only to open their practice in the Dutch East Indies, especially Java. The program became more comprehensive; by 1864 it was expanded to three years. By 1875, the program of study had reached seven years and the graduates were entitled to the degree of Medical Doctor.
The next step came in 1898, when the Dutch East Indies government established a new school to train medical doctors, named STOVIA (School tot Opleiding van Inlandsche Artsen). The prerequisite to enter STOVIA was roughly the equivalent of a junior high school diploma. The schooling took nine years, so it was a mix between high school and university education. Many STOVIA graduates later played important roles in Indonesia's national movement toward independence, as well in developing medical education in Indonesia.
In 1924, the colonial government again decided to open a new tertiary-level educational facility, the RHS (Rechts Hogeschool), to train civilian officers and servants. The RHS would later evolve into the Faculty of Law. In 1927, STOVIA's status was changed to that of a full tertiary-level institution and its name was changed to GHS (Geneeskundige Hogeschool). The GHS occupied the same main building and used the same teaching hospital as the current Faculty of Medicine. Many GHS alumni would later play roles in establishing Universitas Indonesia.
After Indonesia gained independence, the Indonesian Institute for Higher Education (BPTRI) was established in Jakarta consisting of three faculties: Medicine and Pharmacy, Letters, and Law. The institute produced its first 90 graduate students as medical doctors in the same year. When the Dutch colonial army occupied Jakarta in late 1945, the BPTRI moved to Klaten, Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Malang. In 1946, the Dutch colonial government established the Nood Universiteit or Emergency University at Jakarta. In 1947, the name was changed to Universiteit van Indonesie (UVI) or Universitas Indonesia. Following the Indonesian National Revolution, the government established a state university in Jakarta in February 1950. The name was Universiteit Indonesia, comprising the BPTRI units and the former UVI, which was later changed into Universitas Indonesia (UI).
Rectorate, Universitas Indonesia's main building
By 1950, UI was a multi-campus university, with faculties in Jakarta (Medicine, Law, and Letters), Bogor (Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine), Bandung(Engineering, Mathematics and Natural Sciences), Surabaya (Medicine and Dentistry), and Makassar (Economics). The Surabaya campus became theUniversity of Airlangga in 1954. In the following year, the Makassar campus became the University of Hasanuddin. In 1959, the Bandung campus became the Bandung Institute of Technology. The School for Physical Education, which was also in Bandung, became part of Padjadjaran University in 1960. In 1964, the Bogor campus became the Bogor Agricultural Institute and the Faculty of Education in Jakarta became the State University of Jakarta. By 1965, UI consisted of three campuses, all in Jakarta: Salemba (Medicine, Dentistry, Economics, Engineering, Science and the Graduate School), Rawamangun (Letters, Law, Social Science and Psychology) and Pegangsaan (Public Health and parts of Medicine).
In 1987, several faculties from the Salemba and Rawamangun campuses moved to a newly built campus in the outskirts of Jakarta. The campus in southern Jakarta is known as the Depok campus (it is in the city of Depok).
In the year 2007-2008, Universitas Indonesia underwent substantial reform. Revenue was significantly increased from 800 billion to 1.6 trillion rupiah. The number of research publications has increased. This is also the case with the university's endowment fund.
The rector of Universitas Indonesia (July 2007), Prof Dr der.soz. Gumilar Rusliwa Somantri, is a reformist and the youngest leader among university presidents in Indonesia. He has been elected to and serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU).
According to the 2008 survey of Globe Asia, UI ranked number first among the top universities in Indonesia.[6] This report has been supported by a leading Indonesian magazine Tempo, which carried out a survey and analysis to rank universities and education in Indonesia.[7] Universitas Indonesia has improved its research collaboration with international partners.
In August 2008, the university won the Indonesia ICT award for the smart campus with best content and application. In terms of accessibility and connectivity, Universitas Indonesia has won an award because 90% of the university's area is covered by IT infrastructure and services with its 305 Mbit/s. connection to the Internet, and its 155 Mbit/s. connection to the Indonesia Higher Education Research Network (Inherent).[8]

[edit]Salemba
The Salemba campus, located in Central Jakarta, is dedicated mostly to the faculties of Medicine and Dentistry. It adjoins the Cipto Mangunkusumo National Hospital (RSCM) as well as the University Dental Hospital. It houses parts of the postgraduate program, the Faculty of Law (Master of Law Science and Law Science Doctoral Program), Faculty of Economics (Extension and Master of Management programs) and the Faculty of Engineering (laboratories).
[edit]Depok
Monument at UI Depok Campus
The Depok campus, in Depok, just south of Jakarta, was built during the mid-1980s to accommodate the modernization of the university. It is now the main campus. Most of the faculties (Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Engineering, Psychology, Letters, Economics, Social Politics, Law, Computing, Nursing and Public Health) have been relocated here.
The Depok campus is alongside the Jakarta-Bogor commuter railway, offering students easy access to transport by rail. Students also benefit from the frequent commuter bus services connecting many parts of Jakarta to Depok.
It was planned to relocate the undergraduate training of the medical and dental faculties to Depok in 2010.
The main library of the university is on the campus, along with other facilities such as the Student Services Center, Student Activities Center, gymnasium, stadium, hockey field, hotel (Wisma Makara), travel agent and the dormitory.
[edit]Sustainability
Universitas Indonesia maintains 75% of its area for reforestation. Over 20 kilometers of bicycle path have been created and shuttle buses are provided for the students and faculty. The bicycles and buses are to decrease the number of vehicles in the campus.
UI established the GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities[9] in April 2010 to provide detailed profiles of participating universities who wish to make the necessary steps to promote sustainable operations. It is hoped that the rankings, when published, will promote a greater environmental awareness for all institutions of higher learning of the value of putting in places and systems that will have a positive impact on global warming and climate change, particularly those that help reduce carbon emissions through efficient energy use, and alternative forms of transport, greening the campus and waste recycling.
The new library "crystal of knowledge" at Depok used a sustainable concept. Not only in green area and transportation, Universitas Indonesia has relocated nine massive African baobab trees aging over 100 years (one said to be 240 years old) to the Depok campus to prove the university commitment in going green.[10]
